Portal Access Control
classroom.cloud already controls when users can connect to school devices (for example, during school hours, term dates, and specified school networks).
Taking security a step further, classroom.cloud now enables schools to control when staff can log in to the portal. Schools can also set user exclusions to prevent specific users from being blocked by these restrictions, e.g., the IT team.
School-wide application/website exclusions
When setting school-wide internet and application restrictions, schools can now exclude groups of devices from these settings – handy for different staff departments or specific year groups.
End classes
If a teacher forgets to end a class, student devices remain in an ‘in class’ status ahead of the next class starting. Administrators can now close active classes on their behalf.
Deleting redundant sites
When deleting redundant sites from the portal, organization administrators can now choose between the standard method or force deleting them. (The standard behavior remains, prompting you to action any data still attached to the site before proceeding.) The new ‘Force site deletion’ option enables administrators to remove a site quickly. Any user accounts will be disabled and can be assigned to a new site if required, device groups will be removed, and student devices will be shown as unlicensed. The deletion will, however, be blocked if the site has open student safeguarding concerns that require action or reassignment.
Digital citizenship resources (USA only)
Students can now add custom notes during a class to help them keep track of their progress and personal lesson goals – plus, they can access a link to a useful class resource about digital citizenship from the Student Toolbar. Teachers can also access this resource link from their portal homepage.
Web launch (USA only)
An administrator can specify a default URL that is added to the Quick Launch list in the teacher console, allowing teachers to quickly and easily launch a URL that is in regular use across the school.
Additional enhancements
- You can now invite and import users from a single ‘Add users’ button.
- The Devices page shows the class name and teacher name for devices that are in a class.
- To help keep accounts up to date, you can now find and remove a teacher-created class linked to a device group.
- Schools can now allow iOS devices to sign in using Google accounts. This complements the addition of signing in with Microsoft accounts.
- Schools can now add more details to their AUP policies, with an increased allowance of 16,000 characters
